Fall in the Smoky Mountains

About two months ago I told Adam I wanted to the Smoky Mountains for my birthday. We didn't think it would actually happen, but we did and it was one of the most amazing trips I have ever taken. We decided to go a week before my birthday in hopes of seeing the beautiful fall colors the park has to offer in October. And it was gorgeous! All the regulars to the park kept telling us the colors weren't as beautiful this year, but I surly thought it was still awesome colors everywhere. It even snowed while we were there! How perfect it that?! Here are some pictures from our trip.
Our initials in the fire
Yummy roasted cinnamon sugar apples

Campfire Banana Splits...don't worry we liked these so much we had them everyday!
Waterfall on the Roaring Fork Motor Trail
Sawfish from below
Seahorses and the Adam
Mmmmm Ogle Dogs!

Adam making silly faces without knowing it was a two sided mirror
Big Chair
Ogle House
Stream on the way to Grotto Falls
That's a black bear, but I made the mistake of giving the camera to Adam and he didn't know how to focus using my dad's camera
Grotto Falls trail head
This mouse woke me up before daylight scurrying around over our tent for over an hour, I found it in the wood box when I finally gave in and got up
The Chimneys under snow
Creek on Chimneys Trails
Newfound Gap
Waterfall off to the side of the road
Me by the waterfall
Me and Adam at Newfound Gap
My brother, Kris, took us to Knoxville to sight see and get pizza at Barleys
After that we went to a trendy coffee shop

Looks fun and beautiful. You have broken Adam in right! Did he like the slide down the mountain at Ober Gatlinburg?

We didn't make it to Ober Gatlinburg...I thought we would have time to do it, but since I only had one day set aside for Gatlinburg(the same day we did the Roaring Fork Motor Trail & Grotto Falls) we decided that we could wait until July for that one.

We also didn't make it to Cherokee or Clingmans Dome :( Too much ice and snow on the road!

What a great trip! I love anything cooked in tinfoil in a fire...how about directions on how to make that beautiful banana!
I thought of you on Oct 4 and I can't believe I failed to call you! I hope you had an amazing birthday.
Are you staying out there now? What happened to LV?

Hahaha...it's actually not until the 24th! I am still in TN, things are still up in the air, but we are both secretly hoping for LV in the future!

The banana boats are so yummy and easy! You just cut the banana peel on the top. I cut the banana down the middle as well being careful not to poke through the back side of the peel. And taking a few small slices helps spread the yummyness around. You stuff mini marshmallows and chocolate chips inside, wrap in tin foil...then 5 to 10 minutes later of sitting on coals then WALA!

Oh! I was just going to write and correct my date mistake! How embarrassing. Not for another 3 days then. Good. I won't forget again!
Thanks for the directions. I will remember to try these when I go camping again in the spring! Yum Yum!
